A 45-season series (September–August) for every delegation: rainfall each season, the median, driest and wettest season, the standardised precipitation index, the number of drought seasons, and a rank-based trend test.
Plus mean seasonal rainfall cells and a long table ready for charting. The area-weighted national mean is 252.3 mm per season.
In short
The area-weighted national mean is 252.3 mm per season; the driest seasons were 2021/22, 2022/23 and 2001/02.
The wettest and driest delegations are listed in the table.
27 delegations show a clear declining trend and 0 a rising one.
Who it is for
Agriculture and geography faculties, water and irrigation engineers, food-security organisations, agricultural insurers and researchers.
Method: what we add to the raw data
- The rainfall season runs September to August, not the calendar year, because that is how agriculture actually counts it; season 2025/26 means September 2025 to August 2026.
- Monthly rainfall was taken from a global 0.05° source and a seasonal cube built per cell.
- Cell values were averaged inside each delegation; delegations smaller than a cell take the value of the cell they sit in, so none is left without a figure.
- Trend uses the Mann–Kendall rank test with a Theil–Sen slope in mm per decade, and is only called a trend when the p-value is below 0.1.
- The standardised precipitation index is computed per season from a gamma distribution fitted to each delegation's own seasons; a drought season is one at −1 or below.

Limitations
- The source cell is about 5 km, so fine mountain detail is not represented and small delegations share a cell.
- The source blends satellite and station estimates; it suits comparison and trend, not a report on a specific station.
- The latest season may be incomplete if its months are not yet all present in the source.
- The standardised index compares a delegation with itself, not with others: −1 in the north is not the same amount as −1 in the south.
