Method: what we add to the raw data
- The source is a global 10 m land cover product for 2021 with eleven classes, the finest freely available.
- Cells were clipped per governorate with a 1 km margin, so files open quickly instead of one heavy national file.
- Each class's area per delegation was computed using true cell area by latitude, not cell counts.
- Ready-made shares were added for the four main classes: cropland, built-up, tree cover and bare land.
- Class names are given in the Arabic used in the field alongside English.

Limitations
- The reference is the year 2021 alone; it is not a time series and does not show change.
- Classification is automatic from satellite imagery and may confuse rain-fed cropland with grassland in dry seasons.
- One class describes a whole 10 m cell, so finer detail is not represented.
- Widely spaced olive groves in the centre and south may be classed as bare or grassland rather than tree cover.
