A solar suitability map at 90 m: a score out of 100 combining irradiance, flatness and proximity to built-up areas, grouped into five classes after excluding built-up land, water, forest and steep slopes.
Plus the best 50 sites as connected patches of 2 km² or more, and a per-delegation table of suitable area.
In short
6,170 km² rated excellent and 44,961 km² very good.
The best 50 sites total 4,659 km², the largest 2,562 km².
The delegations with the most suitable land are listed in the table.
Who it is for
Renewable energy developers, consultancies, administrations, and energy and engineering students.
Method: what we add to the raw data
- Irradiance comes from an open climate source on a one-degree grid, interpolated by inverse distance to 90 m cells: it suits comparison between areas, not plant-output estimation.
- Slope is computed from the elevation model and land cover from a 10 m source.
- Built-up land, water, forest and wetland were excluded, along with any slope above 10%.
- The score out of 100 weights irradiance five tenths, flatness three and proximity to built-up areas two — weights stated explicitly so the buyer can re-weight them.
- The best sites are connected patches of the excellent class of 2 km² or more, ranked by area.

Limitations
- The irradiance grid is one degree (40 points over all Tunisia), so it is a relative indicator separating south from north, not neighbouring sites.
- The score excludes the electricity grid, roads, land ownership and protected areas, all decisive in a real decision.
- It does not replace on-site irradiance measurement or a grid-connection study.
- The weights are a stated, disciplined judgement; changing them changes the ranking, which is why the factor layers are supplied separately.
- Suitability covers solar only; wind would need hub-height wind data, which is not included.
FAQ
- How long does delivery take?
