2,077 basic health centres and 219 hospitals with locations, names, opening hours and operating status; distance-to-nearest-facility bands; and a per-delegation table of facility counts, population and the population living more than 10 km away.
Nationally, 0.3% of people live more than 10 km from the nearest facility.
In short
2,077 basic health centres and 219 hospitals.
97.2% of people live within 5 km of a facility; 0.3% live more than 10 km away (34,913 people).
The delegations with the highest share of distant population are listed in the table.
Who it is for
The health ministry and regional directorates, health and humanitarian organisations, researchers, and service planners and municipalities.
Method: what we add to the raw data
- Three layers (basic health centres and two hospital files) were merged into one with unified fields, removing duplicates by location.
- Each facility was attributed to its governorate, delegation and sector.
- Distance to the nearest facility was computed on a 200 m metric grid (straight-line, not along roads) and grouped into four bands: up to 5 km, 5–10, 10–15 and beyond.
- The bands were read against the population distribution, giving population per band rather than land area alone.
- Results were aggregated per delegation: facility counts, population, population beyond 10 km and its share, and population per facility.

Limitations
- Distance is straight-line, not along roads, so real travel time is longer, especially in the mountains and the south.
- Private clinics are not included; this covers the public sector.
- Opening hours and operating status are as recorded in the source survey and may have changed since.
- The population distribution is a building-based model, not a census, so figures are estimates at delegation level.
- Facilities without a valid recorded location do not appear.
